Hi, I’m Katie.
I began my energy healing journey about five years ago. I had experienced some major and challenging life changes and was starting my first year of teaching when I decided to try Reiki. I happened upon Reiki by accident, actually, because when I arrived for my first session I remember telling the practitioner that I was not sure which of her healing offerings I needed. She suggested I try Reiki, and after my first session, I went for healing as often as I could, sometimes once a week.
Over the years, my Reiki healer became my mentor and my teacher. She encouraged me to keep asking questions, to keep doing the work, and not give up when it got hard. She was and continues to be, an integral part of my healing journey, and for her, I am forever grateful. Without her, In Harmony would not be. Over the past five years, I took classes and read books on as many holistic topics as I could. I wanted to gain a better understanding of spiritual wellness and energy healing as they relate to Reiki.
I studied the chakra systems of the body in two, nine-week intensive courses and also earned my certification in Reiki level one of the Usui/Tibetan systems of healing. After experiencing firsthand the benefits of receiving Reiki, I knew that I wanted to share it with others. I went on to receive my Reiki level two and my Reiki Master certifications.
In 2022 I stepped away from my career as a teacher and decided to build In Harmony so that I could bring the gift of Reiki to others. My mission is to support individuals on their respective wellness journeys through Reiki and energy healing. I believe energy healing is truly transformative and that Reiki can help us achieve harmony in body, mind, and spirit.

What is Reiki?
“Rei” means universal and “Ki” means life energy. Reiki is the channeling of universal life force energy for the purpose of promoting healing and balance within the body. During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki energy as it flows through their hands. Reiki energy flows automatically to affected areas within the body and raises the vibration of blocked or stagnant points of energy. In doing so, Reiki energy supports the release of tension and the restoration of balanced energy within the body.
What is Crystal Healing?
During a crystal healing session, crystals are placed around the body or on a crystal grid. The vibrations of the crystals interact with our body’s energy fields to help restore balance and promote the healthy flow of energy within.

Reiki is a type of energy healing, but energy healing is not limited to Reiki. Examples of other types of energy healing include crystal healing, chakra balancing, and aura cleansing.

While massage practitioners who have received the Reiki attunements can incorporate Reiki into a massage, Reiki healing itself is NOT a massage.

This question has come up a few times in my discussions with clients and other Reiki practitioners. Reiki is not a religion. I have worked and studied with Reiki healers from a variety of religious backgrounds.

Yes! Anyone can receive Reiki healing. If you are a practitioner and giving Reiki, it is important to always have the other person’s permission before sending them Reiki energy.

Yes! Reiki energy is not limited to the constructs of time and space. Distance healing sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions. I have received many distance healings and can attest to their efficacy.

They can be! Crystals can be used to enhance a healing session at the practitioner’s discretion.

A standard tarot card deck consists of 78 cards: 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards. The cards are further divided into four suits (wands, coins/pentacles, swords, and cups). Although the artwork of each card will differ across tarot decks, the energy behind each card remains the same. Oracle card decks can consist of any number of cards and are not usually divided into suits (although they can be). Each oracle card deck is unique, and oracle cards can have any number of meanings and messages.
